King Avenue and Sherbrooke Road Willawong Intersection Upgrade

Cr Owen-Taylor road upgradeThe long awaited upgrade of Sherbrooke Road and King Avenue is currently underway following the acqusition of funding in the 2012/13 Brisbane City Council Budget.

This key intersection upgrade aims to improve safety for motorists, cyclists and pedestrians, it reduces traffic congestion during peak periods and will improve the overall road infrastructure to accommodate existing and future traffic demands.

This intersection is a key component of the major east-west corridor linking Sunnybank Hills through Algester and Acacia Ridge through to Inala and Wacol.

This project also injected jobs into the Brisbane work market and will contribute to ostering the growth of our Brisbane economy.

Preliminary works commenced in March 2012 and concluded in August 2012. Construction commenced in September 2012 and is anticipated to reach completion in mid 2013.

On 7 February 2013 Councillor Angela Owen-Taylor switched on the lights (pictured above) two months ahead of schedule and $4.7 Million under budget.

Forest Lake Boulevard and Woogaroo Street Forest Lake Intersection Upgrade

Brisbane City Council will deliver a Safe School Travel project at the intersection of Woogaroo Street and Forest Lake Boulevard to improve the safety of students travelling to and from both Forest Lake State School and St Johns Anglican College Junior Campus.

The Safe School Travel works that will take place are designed to improve safety for all students regardless of whether they walk, cycle, catch the bus or are driven to school.

These works will also help ease traffic congestion and improve road efficiency in this local school zone.

The project will include improvements to the crossing points and turning lanes at the intersection of Forest Lake Boulevard and Woogaroo Street, Forest Lake.
