Gold Star Reading Program

Cr Angela Owen-Taylor Gold Star Reading ClubSince 2004 Brisbane City Council has invited primary school children across Brisbane to join its annual Gold Star Reading Club.

The free program aims to encourage and develop reading and literacy skills by rewarding primary school children for their reading achievements.

Since its inception over 37,000 young people have participated in this program.

Council recognises that reading is very important to a child’s development. We hope this fantastic program will get teachers, parents and friends involved too, and promote a lifelong love of learning amongst our children.

At the end of the program, each registered child also receives a certificate of achievement and a gold star medallion.
