Brisbane residents are offered general, green and recycling waste services by Brisbane City Council. Locally waste collection is on Thursdays with fortnightly alternation between recycle and green waste bins.

Green Waste Service (Green Lid Bins)

Green waste recycling bins are an easy and affordable way to dispose of lawn clippings, prunings and leaves.

Your green waste will be collected fortnightly and taken to a green waste recycling facility where it is chipped, stabilised and aged, ready for re-use.

The cost of a 240 litre green waste recycling bin is $17.28 a quarter plus an inital establisment fee of $30, charges appearing on your quarterly rates accounts.


Recycling Waste Service (Yellow Lid Bins)

Brisbane residents can replace their standard recycling bin with a larger 340 litre recycling bin, or order an additional recycling bin. For a single establishment fee of $30 you can order:
       
  • a larger 340 litre recycling bin to replace your standard 240 litre recycling bin, or
  • a larger 340 litre recycling bin and keep your standard 240 litre recycling bin, or
  • an additional standard 240 litre recycling bin

Large Kerbside Collection

Brisbane City Council undertakes a large kerbside collection by suburb once a year to assist residents in the disposal of bulky items.  The collections are held during a specific week for each suburb, residents are notified by flyer at least one week prior to the collection.  Please click here to find out when the collection occur next in your suburb.
